Rush Committee: What we do
The Rush committee handles recruitment of new members for our chapter. Our mission is to develop a plan that caters to each potential member so that we may effectively recruit the best suited members for our organisation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Rush can be a confusing time for many people not already familiar with the Greek system and fraternities. We're busy compiling a list of FAQ and some answers that should hopefully clarify any doubts. If your question is still not listed, please feel free to contact our Rush Chairman directly.
What is rush?
Rush is a period of time, anywhere from 2-4 weeks where fraternities actively recruit new members. Fraternities generally hold rush events where they get to know you and you get to know them. Events could be dinners, barbecue and sporting events to name a few.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT STAGES OF RUSH?
Rush consists of three stages. Two informal events open to everybody and one formal event which is invite-only. "Bids" (or formal invites to pledge a fraternity) are offered after formal rush. It is important to understand that you DO NOT have to commit yourself to a fraternity until you receive a bid. Dates for these events can be found at the top of this page.
Where can i learn more about kappa sigma?
Feel free to check us out on Instagram, Facebook and take a good look at this website. If you are looking for something anecdotal, we suggest you check out the President's Blog to understand his personal experiences when he was a first-year rushing Kappa Sigma until he became president.
WHAT DOES KAPPA SIGMA LOOK FOR IN POTENTIAL MEMBERS?
We take pride in our diversity. Our chapter consists of brothers who contribute differently to the Greek system and UBC as a whole; from varsity players to brothers who hold prestigious student leadership positions on campus. We look for members who have something different or unique to offer the overall community and at the same time, add value to our presence on campus.
WHAT ARE THE TYPICAL COMMITMENTS REQUIRED OF A MEMBER?
On average, we expect brothers to dedicate about 3-5 hours a week to the fraternity.
DOES KAPPA SIGMA OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS?
where is the kappa Sigma house?
We're the first house on the left in the Greek Village at UBC.
